AN UNUSUAL ENAMELLED BRONZE PENDULUM CLOCK IN THE FORM OF A MOSQUE, FRANCE, 19TH CENTURY

The base, body and dome in three sections with removable crescentic finial, two sets of opening doors to each side, each surmounted by a time face decorated in green and blue enamel, the dome surrounded by arched windows, below each inscription-filled cartouches, profusely engraved with arabesques, floral trellis and geometric motifs.

Inscriptions: sayings in Arabic, including some attributed to the Prophet.
